OJ Simpson Must Stand Trial... Again?

Robert Cole
After being held suspect for his wife's murder, you'd think it'd be over. But then he comes out of no where, just before Christmas no less, to tell the world his plans to publish a book entitled If I Did It -- a 'What If' memoir of what 'Could Have' happened if he actually 'Did It'. Then you turn on the radio and hear his attempted robbery of his own memorabilia from two men in Las Vegas. O.J's defense was simple: 'He wanted his stuff back.'

Judge Ito and his jury announced Simpson "Not Guilty" on October 3rd, 1995. Still, the jury ordered punitive damages and other fees from Simpson mounting to over $30 million which left O.J. Simpson with a measly $25,000 monthly allowance. When it was all over many breathed a sigh of relief for their long time favorite American running back.

Then Simpson's anti-Semitic publisher Judith Regan announced his new book venture in November of 2006, a whole army of protest fell on Simpson which ended in Regan being fired and the book being scrapped. The multi-million dollar lawsuit is still pending, but to keep O.J. busy in the meantime, he has his another embarrassing court case to deal with. Bewildered, the nation went on to forget Simpson, but forgiveness may still be pending.

But on September 14th, 2007 Simpson and several friends stole memorabilia from two men in a Las Vegas hotel room, a peculiar heist that left everyone more stunned than ever. The armed robbery really sealed the deal for this once epic football player whose career won him a slot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Now the phrase "The Juice is On the Loose" holds a whole new meaning as Simpson seems to push for a new record in being the most unstable and wacky ex-football player of all time.

With all these bizarre incidents in mind it's hard to see O.J.'s career 'taking off' again any time soon. It's amazing to watch his strange progression into eccentric and impulsive behavior, but with each off-beat controversy since his initial trial, Simpson seems to only further hurt his reputation. With his recent display of aggressive behavior in Las Vegas it will be unclear how much slack O.J. will be given when the trial begins, but with his self-admitting testimony, a video recording his crime and a bumpy past over the last 12 years, justice may not be so easy on The Juice this time around.
