Ojon Ultra Hydrating Conditioner: A Review

The Pen
I was at a Sephora store a few weeks ago because I wanted to find a moisturizing conditioner that I could use throughout the week to keep my hair soft and hydrated. I headed to Sephora's Ojon section because I'd previously tried the Ojon Restorative Mask and Shine & Protect Conditioner with good results.

When I saw that Ojon carried the Ultra Hydrating Conditioner which claims to be the richest daily treatment Ojon offers and that it would be like giving my hair a "mini-conditioning treatment I decided to buy a bottle and try it for myself.

Ultra Hydrating comes an 8.44oz slim c-thru bottle with an orange cap and costs $22. The conditioner itself is a pale yellow and it doesn't smell as sweet as Ojon's Shine & Protect, it has an oilier, heavier smell that reminds me of unscented lotion. It contains 100% pure Ojon Oil, shea butter, sweet almond protein, sesame, jojoba, macadamia, and avocado oils along with other ingredients.

The label on the bottle claims that the Ultra Hydrating Conditioner is made with the palm nut oil from the Ojon tree which nourishes hair and adds shine. It is supposed to infuse hair with a regular dose of Ojon oil while being ideal for all hair types that are damaged, dry, dull, or chemically treated.

Ojon also claims that Ultra Hydrating will provide essential conditioning even if your hair is in good condition and will leave it shiny, smooth, silky, and manageable. The conditioner is also supposed to detangle, fortify, revive, and hydrate the hair without weighing it down.

I used Ultra Hydrating a few days later to see if the claims were right. This conditioner has a creamier and oilier feel than the Shine & Protect one. My locks aren't damaged but I do have a coarse and kinky texture and after using Ojon's Ultra Hydrating I noticed that my hair felt really soft.

I've used it a few times since. Twice I let the conditioner penetrate my hair for a half hour while I wore a shower cap, and the Ultra Hydrating worked like a deep conditioning treatment. My tresses felt extremely soft once I rinsed it, and were much shinier and silkier but it still felt natural. This conditioner doesn't leave a residue on your hair, it just rinses clean.

My hair gets really tangled, and although it didn't get rid of the tangles this Ojon conditioner did make it much easier and quicker to comb through them.

The only problem I had with the Ultra Hydrating Conditioner was the fact that it moisturized the majority of my hair, except for this one weird brittle patch near my crown that has always been unruly. That patch never feels normal or moisturized and I thought this would be the first product I used that would hydrate it, but it failed too.

In the End...

The Ojon Ultra Hydrating Conditioner is a great daily conditioner for people with damaged hair or just naturally dry hair textures like mine. It also can work well as a deep conditioner if you leave it on longer. But it is oily so it could weigh down finer textures. 4.5 out of 5 stars.
