This restaurant holds true to everything Japanese. Traditional shoji screen plate the windows, tiled floors and dark cherry wood tables and chairs create a unique atmosphere.
Before beginning your waitress/waiter offers you a hot towel, this is traditional to Japan to "cleanse" your hands before eating. A soft Japanese melody plays in the background, while bamboo, sprigs of cherry blossoms, and bonsai trees decorate the entire surrounding areas (tables, counters, shelves behind the sushi bar). Humungous blue and white with gold trim painted vases stand tall beside the register counter.
Recently remodeled into a classic work of art, this restaurant will keep you on your toes. Although I have not experienced the hibachi (where the chef stands in front of you and personally cooks your order) my fiancé and I celebrated our anniversary at this restaurant enjoying the "all you can eat sushi" for $19.95(this is were I have tried a multitude of sushi that I have never tried before, there is a wide variety to chose from)! I ate of course, my favorite sushi, The California Roll; which is crab meat, avocado, cucumber, and rice rolled with seaweed (or sushi-nori). I tried the Dragon Roll; which was avocado and I believe Salmon cupped over rice. I also enjoyed the sweet and subtle Tamagi roll, which is an egg and rice rolled with seaweed, sweetened with mirin.
All the staff was friendly, courteous, and always smiling. However, I would have liked to see the bathroom be a bit cleaner. The wall paper was peeling off, there were broken tiles, and the toilet seat was engraved upon! I'm guessing the remodel didn't get to the bathroom yet?
Out of five stars, I would give this restaurant a four star review, because the atmosphere was true to Traditional Japanese culture, despite the lacking bathroom, food, service, and background environment were very pleasant; which made for an exclusive and elegant evening.
