Summer is a great time to enjoy music whether it is poolside, in the car, or at a concert. Oklahoma City offers several venues that feature terrific concerts all through the dog days of summer.

Frontier City is a local amusement park where, for the price of admission, you can see a concert after a day of fun in the sun. There are three acts being featured at Frontier City in August. Kansas will perform on August 4. Hawk Nelson will be performing on August 11, and country star Phil Vassar performs on August 25. Admission to the park is $25.99 and it is open from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Oklahoma City is also the home of the Zoo Amphitheater, which is considered one of the city's premiere live music venues. They consistently offer concerts by top groups, both old and new, and this summer is no exception. Upcoming events at the Zoo Amphitheater include Snow Patrol with special guest Hot Hot Heat who will be at the zoo on August 1st. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $35.00 for General Admission. The 80's rockers return on August 3rd when ZZ Top, The Pretenders and The Stray Cats come to Oklahoma City to rock. Showtime is 5:30 p.m. and tickets sell for $49.50.

The Daily Oklahoman presents "An Evening Under The Stars" with Don Henley and special guest Lucinda Williams on August 5th, starting at 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $45 and reserved seating is $70.00. Fans of classic country will not want to miss Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Ray Price when they perform on August 17th at 5:15 p.m. General admission tickets are $35.00 and reserved seating is $49.50.

Two of the hottest rock groups of today, Korn and Evanescence bring their "Family Values" tour to OKC on August 21st at 3:00 p.m. A General Admission ticket will cost $52.00. 70's superstars The Steve Miller Band will be appearing with Buddy Guy on August 25th at 7:00 p.m. General Admission tickets go for $40.00.

Children of the 80's break out your leg warmers and acid washed jeans and head down to the amphitheater on September 5th to relive your youth with Def Leppard and Styx at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for General Admission are $50.00. On September 7th at 3:30 p.m. modern country group Cross Canadian Ragweed combines with The Black Crowes for what is sure to be an incredible show, with General Admission Tickets going for only $36.00.

The "Bad Boys of Rock Tour", featuring Hinder makes its way to the zoo on September 22nd at 6:45 p.m. General Admission tickets can be bought for $31.50.

When you combine all of the tremendous shows at Frontier City and the Zoo Amphitheater with the terrific acts such as The Oakridge Boys, Craig Morgan, and Gary Allan, who are appearing at the State Fair in September, you will find that Oklahoma City has an amazing August and September full of concerts to satisfy any musical taste.
