As a finalist for the Coach of the Year award in 2006, Bob Stoops should be a top candidate for the 2009 Coach of the Year award. The Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award recognizes leading coaches in all divisions for coaching excellence, sportsmanship and integrity, academic excellence and community commitment.

University of Oklahoma Football Bob Stoops Represents Coaching Excellence

Ranked in the top 10 of the Best Active College Football Coaches on the College Sports Fans website, Bob Stoops has achieved much throughout his coaching career. In his second season at the Oklahoma Sooners, Bob Stoops led his team through an undefeated season, national championship and also won AP Coach of the Year.

Stoops also coached the Oklahoma Sooners to win Big 12 Conference Titles for the last three consecutive years and for six Big 12 Conference Titles since 2000. During his ten years at the University of Oklahoma, Bob Stoops has had the most wins of any Division 1-A school during that same time period. Making Stoops truly a coach that stands out and worthy of the 2009 Coach of the Year Award.

The University of Oklahoma is dedicated to helping athletes achieve in sports and academics. Bob Stoops has been honored off of the Oklahoma Sooners football field too. The Arthritis Foundation honored Bob Stoops at an Eastern Oklahoma Chapter event Stoops is a dedicated family man and devoted to his family and friends. He is a well respected in Oklahoma and across the nation for his outstanding coaching ability and strong character.

Stoops began his coaching career at the University of Iowa as an assistant under Hayden Fry. In college, Bob Stoops was a four year starter for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Since joining the University of Oklahoma Sooners in 1999, Bob Stoops has made a positive impact on the football team and the University of Oklahoma through his strong leadership and dedication which makes him one of the top candidates for the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award.
