The Food
Whether it is a turkey leg to sink your teeth into or a fried Oreo to tempt your sweet tooth all Oklahoman usually put some kind of food item on their list of reasons to go to the Fair. Fried Twinkie's and Corn Dogs are also a common favorite.
The Animals
Many come for the shows. I particularly enjoyed the Sea Lions and even got my picture with them. You can stroll in and around the pens of Interesting dog and horse breeds and meet those that care for and train them.
Comedy
Moo Mania is an awesome show for the kids including ventriloquist and comedian Rob Lemaster and his entertaining antics. This show was captivating in the AGtropolis - a mini city primed for exploration. Live animals, including chickens being born, adorn all areas in a huge building. Most shows and exhibits are free, several show are not including Disney On Ice and the PRCA Rodeo. All daytime attractions are kid and family friendly, while the night turns a different face for the adults with live shows, alcohol and contests.
Special Admission
With a Dr Pepper can (decidedly Oklahoma's favorite soft drink) and $20 you can get an arm band that will allow you a free ticket to all rides.
My Favorites
You can't miss the special booths setup by local and traveling vendors that present the best of their materials. Local businesses include manufacturers of leather products to local chiropractors. This is their time to present a free gem of value to bring you into the office later. I receivd a free muscle strain exam, got my glasses and rings washed and ate way too much candy. Don't forget to bring a bag for all the pens, pencils and trinkets you will receive. Oklahoma's wineries and good manufacturers are also present to delight and entertain. Locally famous people are also on hand to meet their fans whether it be news anchors, weathermen, or radio DJs they were all up-close and personal. Unique gifts and items only found in Oklahoma can also be found, like real wood carvings, soap manufactured by Oklahoma's own 'Red Dirt' soap company as well as other Made in Oklahoma (MIO) products. Visit the Tornado Shelter Showroom to see and sit in real tornado shelters. Be certain to see all the latest vehicles - sit in them, kick the tires and see them personally.
Anything interesting you can find in Oklahoma will be represented at the Oklahoma State Fair. This is a must visit event of every year even if you are a state or two away.

Post a CommentGreat article! I love visiting with the animals at the fair. I thought this year would be the first year ever that it didn't rain during the Oklahoma State fair, but of course, it rained today.
