Oklahoma Vs. Oklahoma State: 2010 College Football TV Time & Predictions

Simon Nguyen
The 2010 college football game between in-state rivals Oklahoma Sooners and Oklahoma State Cowboys (host) is set for Saturday November 27 (8:00 PM EST) at Boone Pickens Stadium. ABC Sports will broadcast the highly anticipated contest. This is likely the only meeting between the Sooners and Cowboys in 2010, and could also decide the Big 12 title. Oklahoma is currently 13th in the BCS standings, with a 9-2 record; Oklahoma State ranks 9th with an outstanding record of 10-1. This article provides TV time and predictions for the 2010 Oklahoma-Oklahoma State college football game.

1) Oklahoma-Oklahoma State Bedlam Rivalry

Saturday's contest is the 105th meeting between in-state rivals Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University. Since 2000, the Sooners and Cowboys have met 10 times with the former owning an 8-2 record. Although we call this a rivalry, it is very much a one-sided affair. Oklahoma has won most of the games between the two rivals, often with a reasonably sized margin. In fact, the scores of the last three Sooners' victories are 49-17, 61-41, and 27-0 respectively.

2) Landry Jones vs. Brandon Weeden

The 2010 college football rivalry game between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State pits sophomore quarterback Landry Jones against junior QB Brandon Weeden. This will be the first meeting between the two quarterbacks. Both players have enjoyed an outstanding offensive season. Jones has thrown for over 3400 yards, with 30 touchdowns and a strong rating of 148; Weeden is even more impressive with 3780 passing yards and a 160.5 QB rating (10th among all starting quarterbacks). Weeden has a slight statistical edge over Jones.

3) Bob Stoops vs. Mike Gundy

The much anticipated contest features two of college football's best teams in #13 Oklahoma and #9 Oklahoma State. Both have posted outstanding offensive numbers this season. The Sooners rank 4th in the nation in passing yards, scoring over 40 points five times. The team's main offensive weakness has been its rushing, which ranks a shocking 76th overall. The Cowboys, for its part, places second in passing yards and first in total yards. Furthermore, Oklahoma State has managed to post at least 33 points in 9 of its 10 games. The Cowboys has a clear advantage over the Sooners in the offensive department.

On the defensive side, Bob Stoops' team has been surprisingly effective allowing only 20.4 opposition points per game. Gundy's team, on the other hand, has struggled defensively ranking 64th in points allowed. Oklahoma has played three ranked teams (Florida State, Texas, Missouri) this season, winning 2. Oklahoma State has played two ranked teams in Nebraska and Baylor with a 1-1 record.

My prediction for the 2010 college football game between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University: Bob Stoops and the Sooners beat the Cowboys by the score of 41-35. Kickoff time for the game is 8:00 PM EST. The game will be broadcast by ABC Sports.
