Oksana Grigorieva Vs Mel Gibson - the Extortion Investigation Continues

Detectives Search Oksana's Computer Hard Drive for Evidence

Mel Gibson gained an early advantage several weeks ago when the Los Angeles Superior Court Judge granted a request from Mel's lawyers for detectives to have unrestricted access to the contents of Oksana's computer hard drive. Here they hope to find evidence that Oksana was trying to extort money from Mel Gibson, which is a key factor in the custody battle over their daughter Lucia.

Weeks later, however, the detectives are still investigating the contents of the hard drive, and it may be weeks still before the analysis is completed.

As of 8th November, the L.A. County Sheriff's Department said that "officials are knee-deep in downloading and reviewing the data on it" according to The Hollywood Gossip.

Apparently one of the major downloads has virtually been completed, but a large amount of other data that may be relevant to the case still remains to be retrieved and analyzed.

Until the contents of Oksana's computer has been fully analyzed, the big question still remains, did she deliberately try to get money from Mel Gibson?

The problems between 54 year old Mel Gibson and his 40 year old Russian born girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, came to a head back in July when transcripts of tapes that were recorded by Oksana, which had Mel Gibson ranting at her, were leaked to the press.

This followed with reports by Oksana Grigorieva that she had photographs showing that Mel Gibson had bruised their two year old daughter, Lucia.

On the one hand we now have Mel Gibson's lawyers expecting to find information on Oksana Grigorieva's computer that prove she was trying to extort money from him, and on the other hand we have Oksana's lawyers expecting that the detectives will find information on the computer that will exonerate her.

The spokesperson for the L.A. County Sheriff's Department, Steve Whitmore, told the media that all the witnesses have now been interviewed, and once the data has been fully reviewed, it will be sent to the L.A. County District Attorney, who will then decide whether Oksana Grigorieva is to be prosecuted for extortion. At the same time, the District Attorney will be deciding whether to prosecute Mel Gibson for domestic violence.

This is definitely turning into quite a case, with both sides being potentially guilty of crimes against the other, and both trying to prove their innocence as well as trying to prove the guilt of the other party.

It will definitely be interesting to see how this ends up, but already we know that Mel Gibson's career as one of Hollywood's major actors is most likely over.

Hmm. My husband rented "The Edge of Darkness" this past weekend. I didn't want to watch it, but did anyway. No matter how good his acting is, I couldn't forget about these reports of abuse. I think his career is about done.

What a mess. This story is so ridiculous!

  • Martha Fry11/9/2010

I feel sorry for the little girl. The reports of this mess will be around in cyberspace forever. Years from now she'll still be the kid that was in the middle of his disaster

    A messy deal getting messier.

I wonder what exactly she did to induce him to verbally attack her. I'm not saying that he is innocent but IF she were trying to get his money, wouldn't it be "smart" to build evidence that he is abusive? Most abused women do not publicize their abuse.

Good report... I'll be interested to see what gets turned up.
