Olay Definity Foaming Moisturizer

I don't know who names these products and it's a job I would have fun with but this product's name doesn't quite fit what the product does. Olay Definity Highly Defined Anti-Aging Deep Penetrating Foaming UV Moisturizer with SPF 15.

Do not say that three times fast -- you may not survive.

Whoever designed the product did have a good idea. Foam. No leaking, no spillage. Just a nice, soft, fluffy mass to smooth over my face. Sound too good to be true?

I've been looking at this for a long time waiting until I finished my bottle of Olay Regenerist before I forked over even more money for what is marketed as the latest and greatest without having to see a doctor.

Skin care in a bottle. From Wal-Mart. Yep. It'll work like a doctor.

I get home after standing in line forever and ever Amen. I am excited to hurry and wash my face so I can try on my new best friend.

What is that on my face? It feels like a thin layer of Elmer's Glue is drying on my face. It is sticky too.

I decide to wait it out. Many lotions and potions start out funky but end well after a period of drying.

I wait and I wait and I wait.

I decide to keep waiting and at the end of several hours I am patting my sticky face and it starts to peel. I wonder to myself is this how the product works? By peeling the top layer of skin just-like-at-the-doctor's?

Nooooooo. It is the product sitting on top of my skin and then flaking off.

I call the nice Olay people to tell them about my experience and they kindly say that I probably used too much product. That the stickiness and flaking are from too much of the foaming moisturizer on the skin.

I offer my theory in that I'm in the South, it's somewhat humid and maybe the product didn't dry properly. It doesn't occur to me to remind her that the bottle says it is deep penetrating foam. Not sit on top foam. Oh well.

No, she said kindly, the only reason they know of why this happens is when someone uses too much. But, we are sorry, she said, that you had this experience and would you like a coupon to buy another Definity product?

Yes, I said and thank you. Do you have an unscented regular moisturizer?

No, we do not but we have several products for you to choose from. You will recieve a coupon in the mail in three to four weeks.

Well, I'm thinking, I need something sooner 'cause I don't want to have to use my Jergans on my face. Oh well. I accept. The foam did come with a free trial size tube of Definity Serum so I'll use that until then.

I'm glad the Olay people are so nice. I feel sure I could have asked for a refund but I do want to give the Definity line one more chance and I still will probably use Olay products even if I don't continue with this line.
