Olay Moisture Replenishing Mousse Cleanser Foams Your Face Clean

Susan Slade
A few months ago I purchased the Olay Moisture Replenishing Mousse Cleanser, when it worked out that I paid $9.99 for it, and received the same amount back in register rewards towards my next store purchase. I put it with my beauty products, that range in the hundreds, and only pulled it out a couple of weeks ago.

I had finished up several of my cleansers, and had given away my L'Oreal Revitalift Cream Cleanser, because it dried the skin around my eyes, and created a red blotch.

I like the design of the bottle, it is a pale, and dark green color. It is fat at the bottom, and then goes in nearer the top, for easy holding. It has the green top that you remove to show the area where the mousse comes out. You gently press down on the angled top, and there are two slits where the mousse comes through. It has a net weight of 5.2 ounces (150 g).

These slits look really narrow, and you would think that hardly any mousse would come out, but I warn you from the start that when you press down, you will get a large ball of foam/lather. I couldn't believe how much I wasted the first time I used it.

So now I gently touch the top of the bottle, and out comes an amount, about the size of a ping pong ball. That is the perfect size to apply to your face, and neck area.

It has a delicate smell, and feels good when I apply it to my face. On the directions it doesn't tell you how long to leave it on, or even if you should take it off. All it states is:

"Directions: Wet hands. Shake well before each use. Hold can upright, dispense desired amount into hand."

So after making the huge mistake on the first attempt, and having enough for a football team, or should I say soccer team. I am careful as to how much pressure I put on the top of the can. With other cleansers I leave them on for around 5 minutes, so decided to do the same with this one. I then got fresh water, and rinsed the cleanser off. I dabbed my face dry with a clean towel.

I decided not to use a moisturizer after my cleansing as this states that it is a 'moisture replenishing mousse cleanser. When I went to bed about 20 minutes later my skin didn't feel as hydrated as when I use a good quality moisturizer.

I used the Olay cleanser without a moisturizer for a week, and my skin was okay, but I thought that it really did need extra moisture in it. So this past week I have been using the Olay cleanser first, and then finishing up with my moisturizer. This combination has worked great for me. There has been no dry skin, or red areas on my face.

Dermatologist tested.
Non-comedogenic.

The only problem I have is that I could be using a cleanser for half the price, with a moisturizer, and achieve the same, or a similar outcome.

I have to say that I do like the product, but I wouldn't pay $10 for it. It does work, and I could get away without using a moisturizer, but why would I, if I get a better result using one.
