Old Fashioned Homemade Stuffing

Like Grandma Used to Make

What you will need

2 loaves of day old white bread , 2 two tubes saltine crackers, 3 chopped celery stalks , 2 chopped onions, giblets from turkey , 3tbls rubbed sage salt and pepper , 1/2 cup chopped parsley, butter or margarine , 1 brown paper grocery bag

step 1 add giblets to 2 quarts of water and let simmer 1hr.add chopped onions and celery and simmer another 15 minutes. set aside to cool, cover and refrigerate.

Step2 get the kids to wash their hands and allow them to break bread into a lg bowl, about 1 inch pieces. Then allow them to crush the crackers with their hands on top of the bread.

Step3 place bread and crackers in the brown paper bag, add salt , pepper, parsley and rubbed sage. fold top of bag closed and allow kids to shake well. put in refrigerator over night.

Step4 in the morning remove giblets from stock and chop into small pieces. mix giblets, bread mixture, celery, and onions in large bowl. slowly add stock from giblets until moist. put in buttered casserole dish. cover and bake at 375 degrees for one hr. remove lid and bake another 20 minutes till top is crisp and golden brown.

Left over stock can be used for gravy. day old bread? open bread and allow to sit out for a couple hrs unsalted crackers and salt substitute can be used for low sodium diet for a sweeter taste you can add a grated apple
