Fed from the swamps, springs and rain from the thunder
Wonder how many gallons flow from old tears?
Staring in your black water much to ponder
When daybreak comes your mist rises up higher
Past the high Spanish moss covered Cyprus trees
Looking like smoke from a distant wild fire
Sunbeams shine down through the mist they struggle free
Hidden jewel of backwoods and swamps flow on
Your swamp waters flow out on a journey to paradise
Maybe forgotten dreams and teardrops flow down
Your black waters to the tropics oh so nice

Good work! :)
Nice retelling of an old poem/tune..... with the historically slanted racism deleted and the ideas recomposed, it becomes more than a simple and politically incorrect song we were forced to rote learn and sing in the Boston Public Schools!
Beautiful!!
