Old Town Sacramento

Visiting Old Town Sacramento California is a great place to visit. There is much to offer and see. We stayed at the Embassy Suites which is on the Sacramento River. Our room had a view of the Tower Bridge and the Sacramento River. Old Town Sacramento is right there just steps away. We took a ride on the steam train. We also took a cruise on the Sacramento River which also was excellent. There is a swivel bridge that turns to let the boats through. The crew was very gracious. We lucked out as it was the first run of the day, and we were the only ones on the boat. A few steps from the hotel is old Sacramento. The buildings remain the same. There is an old schoolhouse there, a history museum, a military museum and the biggest train museum I have ever seen. It is a 2 story building and so many dads and sons were in there enjoying the museum. There are shops of course and restaurants in old Sacramento as well. The first firehouse there is now a fine dining restaurant called the Firehouse Cafe. It was excellent. We made reservations and had a wonderful dinner. I recommend it to anyone who visits in old town Sacramento. From the hotel, you can see the state Capitol. Of course, we went in there. It is open 7 days a week. So much history and beauty in the building. They also had people working there to answer any questions you may have. There were many rooms to see and hallways to go down and different floors to also see. Across the street from the Sacramento River is home to the River Cats at Raley field. Talking with the locals, they support their team. We even met one person in our hotel who works there. Everyone was friendly and the trip could not of been more perfect. The only thing is the parking. On Sunday, parking on the streets is free. We chose to valet our car at the hotel for $25 as we did not want to park it in the public garages for $20. The parking would be the only downfall to visiting old Sacramento, but we were didn't mind valet parking since we were staying at the hotel. If your a native Californian or just would like to go for a weekend trip, I recommend Sacramento to you. It is also a great place to take the family
