Spring is so in the air with new, more to offer, extended events, monthly art shows and pumped up restaurants. Spring, now? The weather is freezing everywhere but, I am not referring to the weather. Not yet anyway; I am referring to Old Town Spring, Texas. Last year was fruitful for Old Town Spring but, the end of the year brought a momentum that started a powerful 2010 for Old Town Spring. Web Writers International wants to capture that momentum for Old Town Spring with their new online magazine, OldTownSpringLIFE.Com. Old Town Spring just does not jump into the press. Tourist and residence of Spring, Texas alike do not have detailed information about Old Town Spring. So much can be missed or has never been seen even by visitors who have been to Old Town Spring many times. OldTownSpringLIFE.Com, not in association with Old Town Spring Association but, created by a company whose largest cliental has been in Old Town Spring for the past three years. Comparing Web Writers International's ability to publish information about Old Town Spring, outside of the official association, is much greater due to we have the time and manpower to spend three solid days each week in Old Town Spring. This year brings better service and food from the current restaurants, an extended crawfish festival, a monthly art show, an extended Home for the Holidays, and new "blood" to the board of directors with fresh ideas that is creating the best in Old Town Spring in many years.

Who's cooking, an article written in the current issue of Old Town Spring LIFE magazine evaluates the restaurant reviews written on the restaurants in Old Town Spring. The impression I have perceived and I believe other patrons have as well is that Old Town Spring restaurants thumbs their nose at the Internet restaurant review websites. A big mistake but, it seems that some patrons and the media, including Old Town Spring LIFE are attempting to do something about that. The article high lights the Wunsche Brothers Café top notch review in B4-U-Eat.Com and the write-up by the Houston Press. Was that PR work by the Wunsche Brothers Café or patrons and the media helping out. The current reviews, or those one can find, do not do justice to the restaurants in Old Town Spring. Two restaurants specifically are Hyde's Café and Puffabelly's restaurant whose Southern dishes top the best Southern food restaurants in Houston.

Knowing Old Town Spring was tough at time in the past due to lack of info on stores, store hours and locations, which Old Town Spring LIFE is attempting to change. The directory of Old Town Spring LIFE of the Old Town Spring stores can be sorted alphabetically, by type of merchandise or by streets or areas of Old Town Spring. Old Town Spring LIFE hopes the directory will open up the eyes of patrons and enable them to have more shopping options just because they know which stores have the items they are looking for. But, much more knowledge lacks such as the Old Town Spring historical museum, which not many people have visited. Even residents of Spring, Texas may not know the colorful and interesting history behind this town that is nearly 150 years old. Some of the vendors have been in business for over 25 years. A few good examples is the Doll Hospital where Mary Ann, a Chemical Engineer by education, has the experience of repairing dolls and the love to have the best doll services in Houston. For coffee lovers and those looking for a gift store, Home Sweet Home has some of the best coffee in Houston. With over 25 years of experience, they have sources to buy coffee that out does even Starbucks. Donnie, the artist of Walking Horse Gallery is the next Thomas Kinkade and yet not everyone who has been to Old Town Spring knows about Donnie. Last but, not least is The Whole Cake and Kaboodle and if everyone knew how good this cake bakery and weekend barbecue place was the store would be packed. But, more unknowns exist and I mean many more. Old Town Spring LIFE will assist patrons have a more connected visit to Old Town Spring and help Old Town Spring come to LIFE.

Old Town Spring is more than it looks as many will take a stroll down Gentry and then mosey over to Main St. but, when the time of hunger hits, let us take Hyde's Café as an example of one of the stores hidden away. Old Town Spring LIFE explains each section of Old Town Spring starting from the entrance to Gentry, Gentry Square, Doering Court, East, West and Central Main. Smaller, hidden way areas such as Keith Street where Hyde's Café sits are listed including Courtyard de Belle, Creekside Plaza, which, can be missed in a flash as patrons enter Old Town Spring. On the weekends, The Whole Cake and Kaboodle offer their Boudin and barbeque, which is part of Creekside Plaza as well as the often pet rescues at the Pet Boutique, next door to The Whole Cake and Kaboodle. Old Town Spring LIFE is trying to capture the entire town including the events, store and restaurants plus what is happening on a month to month basis.

The Texas Crawfish festival is just one of the expansions of the Old Town Spring events, which has been extended to three 3-day weekends. Home for the Holidays will open one week earlier for the 2010 holiday season. Again the "more" word comes, more exists such as now the last Saturday of each month is the art walk from 5pm to 7pm. Last year, attempts to attract more visitors by creating events did not always work out, which was surprising for Trade Days considering its creator, CR Collectibles is the leading Antiques store in Old Town Spring. More is expected out of the new Old Town Spring board of directors and advertising committee including events. A focus is being put on attracting more families to Old Town Spring for the weekends. Whether the Old Town Spring restaurants will put out effort on the Internet reviews is unknown. The motivation does not seem to be there considering the well known restaurants are packed on the weekends and have a steady stream of customers during the week. 2010 will be the year to expect the best out of Old Town Spring and Old Town Spring LIFE magazine will be here to tell everyone all about it.
