Olympian Lindsey Vonn Sworn in for NBC's Law & Order
From Olympic Gold to a Different Sort of Slippery Slope
American Lindsey Vonn, who raised eyebrows in February for her cover photo on the Sports Illustrated's "Olympic Preview" edition, has said she is geared up for a guest starring role on television's Law & Order.
Apparently, Lindsey Vonn's television role will not involve slalom or schussing, although some shushing may be involved. The Olympian's scene on Law & Order, after all, will occur in a court of law.
During the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Lindsey Vonn became the first American woman ever to snag a gold medal in Alpine (downhill) skiing, despite suffering multiple injuries. Lindsey Vonn also grabbed a bronze medal in super giant slalom during the 21st Winter Olympiad.
On camera from the Winter Olympics, Lindsey Vonn even admitted to NBC sportscaster Bob Costas that she was "probably the biggest Law & Order fan in the world." Bob Costas had just informed Lindsey Vonn that she would be scheduled to appear on the television series.
Many sources have indicated that Lindsey Vonn will play a jury foreman on Law & Order, although entertainment industry columnists had previously surmised that the athletic Olympian from Minnesota might play herself in a possible episode about a murdered skier.
Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn, who visited the Law & Order set (in New York City) last fall, had said she would be willing to play a corpse, just for the chance to be part of her favorite television show. According to Lindsey Vonn (a University of Missouri graduate who married Olympic skier Thomas Vonn) herself, she watched reruns of Law & Order on DVD before her Winter Olympic events to decompress.
Midway through its 20th season, NBC's Law & Order is a popular police and criminal procedure drama. The current cast includes Anthony Anderson, Alana de la Garza, S. Epatha Merkerson, Linus Roache, Jeremy Sisto and Sam Waterston.
The program airs on Monday nights. Previous episodes of Law & Order, now in syndication, run on various cable and satellite television channels.
Which experience will be the greater thrill for 25-year-old Lindsey Vonn - racing down Whistler in British Columbia or upholding the statutes in a fictional New York City courtroom on Law & Order? (The jury is still out on that one.)
Of course, before Lindsey Vonn travels to the Bronx for her cameo appearance on Law & Order, she will head for Europe to compete in World Cup ski races.

Post a CommentAlways good for athletes to build prospects for careers outside of athletics.
Love Law & Order. This will be interesting.
;-)nice!!!!
Love that show, my brother sometimes plays the baseline.when we are jamming, and I love that too. Nice write up.
I expect she'll be a natural success as an actress... at least for a season or two.
I don't watch L&O anymore; not since they became politically one sided. I want to hear both sides of issues these days. So I will miss her performance. However, if she's good, she might show up elsewhere.
She has a lot going for her and she will be making the rounds I'm sure!
I know I'll be seeing her. That's one of my favorite shows.
Will tune in.
Thanks, we're looking forward to it.
