The Track Star Has a Father Who is a Pastor

Fans may naturally expect a lot of you when you were once labeled, as reported in, http://christianity.about.com, the "fastest girl on the planet," especially if you received such a designation as a teenager and have years to prove the experts right. Indeed, Allyson Felix of the United States has been a successful track star, as she won silver medals in the Olympics this year and in 2004 in the women's 200 meters race, won gold medals twice in the same event at the Athletics World Championships, and won a gold medal as a part of the United States 4 x 400 meters relay team at this year's Olympics. As a dedicated Christian, however, the medal winning track star at two Olympics is even more concerned with being more Christ-like every day than succeeding as an athlete.

Having a faith in Jesus Christ as God's Son as Savior and the One she believes died on the cross and rose again to give a home in heaven to those who trust in him may have come naturally to Allyson Felix-her dad is a pastor at a non-denominational church.

Allyson Felix, the medal winner at two different Olympics is one track star who is open about her faith, and she seeks to share it with anyone who will listen in various ways-including on her personal website.

"My faith is definitely the most important aspect of my life," Felix explained on her website, www.allysonfelix.com. "My dad is a pastor and I grew up in a very strong Christian home. Our family was very involved in our church. I'm currently a work in progress, and like everyone else I face struggles every day."

On her website Felix offers to help anyone learn more about God who contacts her. She says she became a Christian about the age of six and was always actively involved in church. She believes her Christian walk became stronger as she aged, and she added that she is home, she attends church every Sunday. She also regularly reads the Bible and is actively involved in various studies.

Although many may see athletic success such as she has had as the ultimate achievement in life, for Olympic medal winner and track star Allyson Felix, she believes the ultimate achievement in life is to know Christ and have one's sins forgiven. She believes a favorite Bible verse sums it up in Philippians 1:21: "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain."

Allyson Felix does not even run for personal glory. She says she believes her athletic ability is a gift from God, and she wants to use that ability for Him. She says she has been blessed because she has not encountered great persecution for her faith-yet.

When asked to name personal heroes of the faith, Allyson Felix names her parents. She said they were ordinary people who set a godly example. Despite being busy all the time, they have made a difference in the community.

Allyson Felix said she has learned no matter what trials a person has, God is in control.

Allyson Felix, the track star and medal winner at two Olympics has always worked hard to achieve her success. She has achieved success despite having skinny legs when she was young and being called "chicken legs." She became a five time high school track champion and was second in the US Indoor Track and Field Championships as a senior.
