Chicago for Olympics 2016 Summer Games

President Barack Obama has sent letters to the International Olymic Committee (IOC) garnering support for Chicago's Olympics 2016 Summer Games bid. The letter dated September 10, according to The Washington Post stated, "The City of Chicago is designed to host global celebrations and it will deliver a spectacular Olympic experience for one and all."

He also said in his 338-word letter sent to the IOC delegates, "You can count on our government to support Chicago's quest to host an unforgettable event and strengthen the Olympic movement." He went on to say, "I believe we have a historic opportunity to do great things together, and I look forward to discussing that opportunity with you, if not in Copenhagen, then soon thereafter if Chicago is your choice."

Oprah Winfrey will be joining the U.S. group traveling to Copenhagen. According to USA Today Oprah said on Wednesday, "I love and believe in Chicago and I think it would be the perfect host city for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. "

Rio for Olympics 2016 Summer Games

According to Chicago Now in an AP quote, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said, "For others it would be just another Olympics, but for Brazil it would be something to raise the self-esteem of the people, No other city needs to host the Olympics. Brazil needs it."

President da Silva asked, "Do only rich countries have the right to host the Olympics?" He further stated that if Chicago does not win the Olympics 2016 bid, then he would like to see Rio win because Brazil would be the first South American country to be an Olympics host.

According to CBS2 Chicago, Carlos Roberto Osorio, Secretary General of Rio Olympics 2016 said, "Chicago, Tokyo, and Madrid could represent more of the same. Each city could host good games but lack some novelty. Rio presents to the IOC the opportunity to explore and a new country and continent and to engage youth in a different part of the world."

Brazil has launched a "Carbon Zero 2016" campaign to handle carbon emissions of the team energy consumption. It is estimated that 3 million trees will be planted between now and 2016 for the Olympics 2016 Summer Games, should they be awarded to Rio.

Tokyo for Olympics 2016 Summer Games

President Barack Obama and Japan's Prime Minister, Yukio Hatoyama, in a UN meeting this morning stepped lightly around the subject of Olympics 2016 Summer Games and discussed other topics. Both sent pitch letters to the International Olympics Committee (IOC) touting their cities for the Olympics 2016 Summer Games.

On Oct. 2, will it be Chicago, Madrid, Rio, or Tokyo? Stay tuned for more Olympics 2016 Summer Games information as it unfolds in the next 9 days.
