The camera offers 5.1 Megapixel resolution, 4x seamless digital zoom, and 10 shooting modes (Portrait, Landscape, Sports, etc). The built-in help guide provides a brief description of each mode. The dial that selects the shooting mode is located on the back of the camera, on the right of the 1.5 inch LCD screen. A few more simple control buttons are hosted on the back panel as well.
Camedia D-435 has 14 MB internal memory and is also xD-Picture Card compatible. The photos are stored in JPEG format. They can be uploaded to a computer (through the PC/Mac USB connection port, cable provided) or printed out directly using the PictBridge technology, through any PictBridge-enabled printer. The camera also has a movie mode, so you can make short videos with it as well.
Some other features are built-in flash with the working range of 0.7' - 9.8' and Red Eye Reduction mode, autofocus, self-timer, and Date/Time calendar (automatic up to the year 2099). The camera comes with 2 AA alkaline batteries, a USB cable, wrist strap, software CD, manual and a quick start guide.
Camedia D-435 is relatively inexpensive. Estimated retail price suggested by Olympus is $149.99. I have seen it online for $129.95 and even less. I would recommend this camera to anyone who is new to digital photography or prefers ease of use.
