Omaha's #1 Radio Show Gone Syndicated

Why a Whole Rock Station is Worth Hearing

Nathan Ross

The Todd and Tyler Show has been one of my favorite shows since my dad first allowed me to listen to it when I was a prepubescent. I don't watch much tv, so I look forward to Todd and Tyler because I'm in my car often in the morning and I'm allowed the chance to be entertained right up until I have to enter the workplace.

Todd and Tyler are two men whom many might think don't belong in Nebraska. They've often spoken against the popular Republican view that abounds in Nebraska, and they are certainly not fans of the Cornhuskers football team. While they are by no means "shock jocks", they've had their small share of controversy in years past. They will speak their opinions, and not care if a guest disagrees. Yet they disagree in such a way that only ignorant guests or callers feel as if T'n'T are condemning them. Todd and Tyler listen to the facts, then give their reasons for why they disagree.

The two hosts are joined by their producer, Jeremy, "News Guy" Craig, and local tv sportscaster Travis Justice. Craig Evans presents news stories, some being obscure news bits that are best found overnight on CNN's ticker at the bottom of the screen. Travis Justice gives sports news, and T'n'T give their take on stories presented by both men. Political correctness is rarely found in their perspectives, a refreshing alternative to the other local radio shows that are on mostly country stations and flagrantly intercut their shows with that less than appealing music.

One who has listened to the Todd and Tyler Show in the past years has had the pleasure of hearing a variety of guests visit the studio or phone in from across the country. Todd and Tyler have talked to big name celebrities, touring comedians, and even unknown but well-deserving locals. Many's the time T'n'T have invited on the show young bands and musicians getting their start in the Nebraska area or getting their start in greater America. In fact, the Z-92 rock station that employs Todd and Tyler support many artists and comedians. The station makes it a point to promote "Homegrowns"; on Sunday nights the station plays songs from unheard of bands that can finally be heard.

The Z-92 website is also helpful. While right now in the midst of changes, the site always has the latest news concerning all things in the rock world. A recent addition has been allowing listeners from everywhere to access their station through live streaming or podcast.

Speaking of "listeners from everywhere," the Todd and Tyler Show can now be heard on radios across the map. Listeners often call in wishing T'n'T were nationally syndicated. Those listeners have their wishes granted. This week the Todd and Tyler Show has started syndication and can now spread their laughs to previously unfortunate souls who've been stuck with country and rap stations flooding the airwaves with bad noise. Citizens of Omaha likely won't hear a whisper of this great news; few media outlets consider Todd and Tyler to be a respectable show. But you citizens can now hear for yourselves. If you find Todd and Tyler talking from Omaha on your radio one morning, leave the frequency alone and be prepared for a one-of-a-kind experience.
