Summer is right around the corner, and nothing says summer like an outdoor concert. Omaha offers plenty in the way of summertime shows. From big festival shows to outdoor jazz there is something for everybody. Here are some fun places to enjoy an outdoor summer concert in Omaha.

Stir Concert Cove- The Stir Concert Cove is located at Harrah's Casino in Council Bluffs. It is a short drive on the interstate from Omaha. Last year, the Cove hosted over 30 concerts. 2008 figures to be another big year for the Stir Cove with acts like Bonnie Raitt, Los Lonely Boys, Styx, B.B. King and others already lined up. You may purchase seats by the stage or watch the show from the lawn. You can visit the Stir Cove online at stircove.com

Westfair Amphitheatre- The Westfair Amphitheatre in Council Bluffs attracts larger concerts and festival shows. In years past, the Westfair has hosted rock festivals. This summer is shaping up to have a handful of big shows as well. Panic at the Disco is scheduled to perform on May 31 and Snoop Dogg and 311 will perform on July 2. You can visit Westfair's website at westfairevents.com.

Memorial Park- Every summer there is a free concert and fireworks show at Memorial Park in Omaha. Bank of the West will be sponsoring the event in 2008. In years past, this event has featured the Doobie Brothers and the Village People. This year's event will be held on June 27, 2008 with the entertainment to be announced.

Jazz on the Green- On Thursday nights in July and August, the Joslyn Art Museum hosts Jazz on the Green. Jazz on the Green is a free concert series that is perfect for all ages. It is a great opportunity to spend an evening outdoors and enjoy jazz-like concerts.

Riverfront Jazz and Blues Festival- Every summer at the Lewis and Clark Landing strip the Riverfront Jazz and Blues Festival is held. In past years, this event has featured acts such as Chaka Kahn and Joe Bonamassa.

Summers can be pretty brutal in Nebraska, with hot and humid conditions, but taking advantage of these great venues can carry you through to the fall.
