Omni 3200 Repair and Troubleshooting Tips

If the Omni 3200 is plugged into a working electrical wall outlet but will not power on, the power cord might be damaged. Replace the cord and attempt to power on.

Telephone

If the terminal is not receiving a telephone signal, check the telephone cord to ensure it is securely connected to the correct plug as well as to the telephone jack. If the telephone outlet is working properly and the Omni 3200 is still not receiving a signal, replace the telephone cord.

Paper

If the printer is not working, check all of the connections to ensure that everything is properly powered on. A flashing LED light indicates that the printer is out of paper. If the LED is flashing, check to see if the printer needs a new paper roll.

Printer test

When troubleshooting your Omni 3200 printer, you may require information and readouts that can only be obtained by performing a function called the Power-on Printer test. This function can be used during troubleshooting to see if the printer is functioning properly. To perform this test, make sure the printer has a well-stocked paper roll. Then, unplug the Omni 3200 from the power source by disconnecting the plug from the port on the back. Locate the paper feed button. Press and hold the paper feed button as you plug the power cord back in to the port on the back. The printer should begin to print out a series of readouts and characters. When the printer test begins, it is okay to let go of the paper feed button. After the test is done, advance the paper from the paper feed button and tear it off.

Maintenance

The Omni 3200 terminal requires regular light cleaning. The surface of the Omni 3200 can be wiped down gently with a damp soapy cloth. The printer terminals also require regular cleaning, as the paper roll cradle tends to accumulate dust. To remove dust from the printer, Verifone recommends that you open the paper roll compartment, remove the paper roll, and gently tip the Omni 3200 to remove foreign objects and dust from the compartment.

Blank Screen

A common problem with the Omni 3200 is a blank screen readout. To troubleshoot a blank screen problem on the Omni 3200, first, check your cable connections. Then, try replacing the AC power pack for the Omni 3200 with another one that is fully functional. If this fixes the blank screen problem, you need to contact your supplier for a new AC power pack.

System Messages

The Omni 3200 will flash a number of error messages based on its specific malfunction. Check your Omni 3200 manual for a detailed list of error code definitions. An online version of the Omni 3200 manual is available for download.

After Troubleshooting

Do not open the Omni 3200 to service any parts yourself, and do not remove the lithium battery in the Omni 3200; according to the manual, doing so will void the warranty.
