On American Idol's March 25 Show, Anoop Desai Performs 'Ooh Baby Baby'

This is Motown week on American Idol. After a brief trip to Detroit to tour Hit City and Motown Records, Smokey Robinson coached the idols helping them prepare for this week's performances. Smokey loved Anoop's soulful version of OohBaby Baby. . Anoop opened his performance sitting on the edge of the stage tenderly singing to the audience. He delivered a very heartfelt and tender version of the song. He seemed to hit every high note and his falsetto was breathtaking.

Kara said this is one of the most beautiful songs in the world and it is a very difficult song to sing. She felt Anoop did a good job, but knows he can challenge himself to do more and wants him to push it next week. Paula loved his phrasing of the lyrics and said his falsetto was spot on and perfect. Randy said, "Turn it back up. You know how to croon and swoon." Simon said it was great vocal, but he needs to work on his showmanship. He also complimented Anoop on two great performances in a row.

Last week, Anoop performed Willie Nelson's You're Always On My Mind and received rave reviews from the judges. This is two weeks in a row that Anoop has delivered two outstanding performances. He has definitely proven that he deserves to be in this competition after being chosen as the 13^th contestant this season.

Anoop's boyish good looks and charming personality are attracting a lot of female fans, especially teenage girls. His fan base continues to grow each week and these fans will help him tremendously as the competition continues. Anoop is one of the top contenders this year. His performances keep getting better and better. As he continues to become more comfortable with his newly found star status, fans will see a new side of this highly talented young guy.
