On American Idol's March 31 Show, Allison Ireheta Performs 'Don't Speak'

Last week, Allison Ireheta, the youngest contestant in the competition, received rave reviews from all four judges for her rock and roll performance of Papa Was A Rolling Stone originally performed by The Temptations. Randy called her performance "the dopest" and "blazing hot." Kara called it "amazing" and Paula said it was "fantastic." Simon commented that it was one of the best performances of the night.

This week, the contestants were free to choose their songs from iTunes most popular songs download list and American Top 40. Unfortunately, Allison did not fare as well tonight with the judges. She performed her own rendition of No Doubt's Don't Speak. This was Allison's first performance with her guitar. She took the stage with confidence wearing a purple dress with black leggings, platform shoes and clunky necklaces with her bright red hair spiked up. Allison rocked the stage with a powerful version of the song and near perfect vocals, but received mixed reviews from the judges with many more comments about her outfit than her vocal performance.

Randy felt it was a good vocal performance but added, "Dude, what are your wearing?" Kara said the rock in her naturally comes out and she doesn't have to try to dress to look like a rocker. Paula said her vocals are more powerful that people twice her age and that she'll be skating to the finish line. Simon bluntly said, "You look like something from the Adam's Family or a precocious daughter sounding like a rock star. You are good singer and you don't have to look so dressy uppy."

Despite the criticism for her wardrobe choice tonight, Allison Ireheta and her strong rock vocals will be safe tomorrow and sail into the next round. Wednesday's live results show airs on Fox.
