On the Border Blue Corn Tortilla Chips: Product Review

Paula Myers
I noticed a bag of On The Border Blue Corn Tortilla Chips at Kroger last week. The 9 ounce bag looked pretty interesting with a yellow and blue sun in the desert with lots of cactus. I had never eaten a blue tortilla chip before and didn't know what they would taste like. I was a little hesitant about buying them. The front of the bag states that the tortilla chips are made with 100 % natural blue corn. They also have no preservatives, no artificial flavors, no artificial colors, and no cholesterol. Blue Corn Tortilla chips sound like they're healthy for you. I decided to buy one bag of them to go with some salsa.

I opened the bag as soon as I got home. The blue corn tortilla chips had a nice aroma coming from the bag. The chips were shaped like big triangles just right for dipping. Very light and crispy was the texture of these chips, and they had a nice corn taste too. I loved the taste of them and actually prefer them over a lot of the regular white or yellow corn tortilla chips. Eating a blue corn tortilla chip was something that felt very strange to me, but I soon got over it. I will definitely buy another bag of On The Border Blue Corn Tortilla Chips again at Kroger.

The back of the bag states that On The Border products have been around for over 20 years. There are other products that you can buy such as salsa, bean dip, salsa con queso and Margarita drink mix.

There are also a few great recipes on back of the bag that you can try such as Diablo Dip, Enchilada Lover's Casserole, and 7-Layer South Texas Dip. All of the recipes sound delicious and use On The Border products. I love Mexican food! There are two websites where you can get more information and recipes, www.ontheborder.com and www.truco.com.

On The Border Blue Corn Tortilla Chips have the following ingredients: Organic stone ground blue corn, vegetable oil (contains one or more of the following: canola, corn, partially hydrogenated soybean, hydrogenated soybean, soybean oil), salt, and a trace of lime.

Be sure to look for On The Border products next time you're in the grocery store. Check out their chips, salsa, queso, and Margarita mix. I thought the blue corn tortilla chips were delicious and I'm sure you would like them too.

My husband bought two bags of these chips last weekend at Kroger, and we were not very happy to find both bags of the chips pretty busted up in very small pieces. We really couldn`t eat too many of them!!

The last two bags of blue chips that I bought at Kroger's has a rancid smell. The taste was fine, they just smelled bad.
