On a Budget? Does Your Cell Phone Need a Bit of Accessorizing?
How and Where to Get Cheap or On-Sale Cell Phone Accessories
While it may seem obvious, shop online at Internet retailers or auctions for your specific model or manufacturer's accessories. Ebay, Craigslist, and other seller sites not only have new merchandise but also cellular accessories that may be out of the package. For example, sometimes a cover or case is purchased, but doesn't fit a particular model and the cost to ship it back is too expensive so a seller will list it in an online auction. Other times sellers will upgrade and get a new phone and sell used chargers and accessories for "dirt cheap" just to get rid of them. Additionally, when a person may want to replace their collection of faceplates, they may post an advertisement to trade or swap, so be sure to check sites like Freecycle or other online swap-meeting sites.
The next time you are in the mall walking by, if you see something you like in a display case but can't afford the price, search online first, then go from there. If you can find it cheap online, great! If not, return to the place where you saw it and ask what happens with the display items. Obviously, the package was opened to take the cell phone accessory out and put it on display so it can no longer sell as "new and unopened." Offer to purchase it at a discount when the new season's accessories are replaced in the display case, or you may choose to leave your name and number with the manager. For this option, you may need to keep checking periodically to ensure the item you want has not been replaced and sold.
Last, be sure to check out discount stores. If you phone is not the latest model (out within the past year), this option works best for people who are looking for specific parts. Car chargers, cell jewellery, carrying cases, and additional outlet chargers can be found at most outlet stores. Most of the time cellular accessories are displayed in the electronics section, at the display case near the front register, or in the handbags section; depending on the specific function of the wireless accessory. Be sure to note store policies for returns, as some will not accept any electronics returns or all sales are final. Therefore, either bring your phone with you to see if your product will fit (with holders, faceplates or jewellery) or write the make and model number down to see if the wireless accessory will be compatible with your current cell phone.
