These things have all helped me look better than I otherwise might. Being 36 means I have to try a little harder than when I was fresh faced and nineteen. It's OK though, I was hoping to age into my face with some grace and maturity. We'll see how that goes :-).
These are four lipstick colors I use each day: 718, (41) Gold Dipped Rose, 435 (12) Iced Amethyst, 560 Mirrored Mauve - Revlon Moon-drops, and the ever so bright 712 (08) Hot Coral. The colors do last for 12 hours and they need only be applied in very thin layers one pass or two at the most on each levre. Hot Coral is so bright that it can also be covered with the other shades or a thin layer of clear lip gloss or balm and it looks best that way. I also recently purchased Absolute Super Lip Shimmer from Nicka K Cosmetics New York City. I chose number (01) a perfect blend of gold and bronze sparkly shimmer that's sheer enough for daytime wear. I also chose their lip liner pencil in Sienna for every day wear.
I have only one eyeshadow case, also from Revlon. It includes four colors grouped together and called (02) Coffee Bean. It's from the Color Stay 12 hour collection and it has listed on the back 3 steps to proper application. I always find making up my eye lids the hardest part of doing my face. I don't do it most days but this step by step guide helps an awful lot. I usually use just two shades and three or four could also be employed for a more dramatic effect.
My choice for blush, also Revlon, is cream blush, (fard a joues creme). My shade is First Blush (6321-15) and the awesome case comes with its own pop-up mirror. Even some department store make up isn't this cleverly packaged, This blush has super fancy ingredients including Green Tea, Ginko-Biloba, Ginseng and Grape-seed extracts. I think this is so important because I tend to really blend this into the top layers of my cheeks and it sinks in deeper than the other make up items. I am a fanatic about breakouts and this product hasn't caused me any trouble on that score.
Underneath it all is the key: Maybelline Smooth Result, Age Minimizing make-up (SPF 18). It is simply called Tan and is is great match for medium brown skin with cool undertones or the dreaded yellowish orange tint I have under my skin. In the wrong light it can even look greenish. Anyway I like this stuff, it's heavy enough to cover but has a clean feeling finish once it dries and doesn't break me out as long I I replace the sponge I use to apply it with every few weeks. I also often use Almay Smart Shade make up (medium 300) as concealer for dark spots and under eye darkness or puffiness or what ever's going on in the morning. Age, I guess, first shows under a woman's eyes. This is actually a colorless make up that gives a good base for other things you want to apply on top of it. For powder I also use a relatively light shade of Airspun loose face powder in Honey-Beige (070-32). Airspun is made by Coty. I like a powdery finish sometimes and it's easy to apply with a big natural-bristled brush all over the face. This can be the most important step to blending several layers of makeup in order to eliminate streaks between the zones of your face "Use to set make-up or foundation". I don't use it every day, just when I think my face has to be closer to perfect than passable. I use Kiss My Face's "obsessively-natural" SPF 30+ sunscreen on my face and neck. It is water resistant and includes oat protein complex and it smells great and I think you simply must have UVA and UVB protection. The sun feels so good but is the enemy of the skin unfortunately. I use it in the winter time too. After all there's still sunlight even though its not the golden yummy spring and summer sun I'm practically addicted to.
