On the Journey

Roberta Baxter
As I breathe without thinking of that at all

So much is involuntary both big and small

Until the ordinary becomes different for us

We live our lives not making much of a fuss.

When our daily routine is turned upside down

Our pleasant smile then turns into a frown.

Then kicks in, our desire to work to overcome

We then discover that we are truly awesome.

Not alone have we accomplished our goal

Our maker, friends and family are in that toll.

Looking back at what once was our fate

Now seems obsolete from the present date.

As you read and digest this for now

Just remember your innermost personal vow.

My interest in poetry began 10 years ago with writing for my own mental cleansing. Wanting to share some of my poems with others is now why I am on this site. I love composing all material.   View profile
