On the Move? These NFL Players Might Be ...

It seems as if there are some big names out there that could be traded with in the very near future.

Donovan McNabb's name has been tossed around as a trade possibility since Week 2 of last season when his comments about the perception of black quarterbacks came out. Earlier during the playoffs, the Philadelphia Eagles said that McNabb was not going anywhere, but then shortly after that they said they would start negotiations at two first round picks for the veteran quarterback. Teams that could use McNabb's services are those that are essentially a pocket passer away from contending for the Superbowl, like Baltimore, Chicago and Minnesota.

The Cincinnati Bengals and head coach Marvin Lewis have said that Chad Johnson is not going to be traded, but last time I checked, if a player in the NFL does not want to play for a team, he usually gets sent packing. It would be far too dangerous for the Bengals to risk having a player of Johnson sitting out 7 or 8 weeks if he indeed follows through with his threats to do so. But it may be far more painful for them to trade an elite receiver of his caliber away and not get his value in return.

I'm totally against the idea of Jeremy Shockey being traded away from the New York Giants, but I cannot lie that he was proven expendable by the Giants winning a Superbowl with him absent from their entire playoff run. But the notion that the Giants are better without him because of his attitude seems a little farfetched to me. Sure, he may have a negative effect on the psyche of some of the more impressionable players on the team (i.e. Eli Manning), but with a Superbowl victory under their belt, everybody on this team (i.e. Eli Manning again) now has the experience and confidence to look past Shockey's antics, which are far exceeded by his talent.

Surprisingly enough, you can't keep Marvin Harrison off the trading block. While you would think that there is no way the Colts would separate him from the Peyton Manning, they had no problem yanking Edgerrin James away. However, it will be hard to trade a 36-year old who had a lot of injuries last season, and there really is nothing short of a 1st round pick that could even come close to producing what Harrison can do on the field even at his advanced age.
