On the Outside Looking In

April Higney
On the outside,
looking in,
through a stained glass window,
colors many,
windchimes of a hollow music,
yet not so empty,
as it fills the soul.
The colors,
casting rays,
brightness fills the room,
sunlight drenches the enclosed view.
Words muffled
in the sounds of cool water,
flowing in the distance, lush green grass,
wildflowers,
a dragonfly, buzzing, skipping along,
dancing over a river,
a deer quenching its thirst,
in happiness,
on the outside,
looking in.
