On the Outside Trying to Look In

Therapy drains the energy from the soul,
She smiles as she goes in but there is a fluttering within
My darling one is tuned into the world
Then the light goes off

We know she's smart and they tell us so
Progress started out so slow
Now she's made leaps and bounds
Problem is sometimes she slides back down

The missing piece we may never find
The ever illusive link to define this dreadful affliction
More questions than answers to provide
Explaining the tantrums and odd behavior impossible

In the ideal world she'd be accepted automatically
Here in the real world unless she makes a billion she's odd
With billions she'd be eccentric
One day she'll let us know what's in her head

The world around her is strange
I am on the outside looking in
Until the answers outnumber the questions
I can only wonder what's going on
I hope for the best each day
