"On the Road with Austin and Santino" Has Been Canceled

Sad news in the reality TV world... I received an email from the executive producer Rich Bye, of On the Road With Austin and Santino, informing me that the show about making a lady feel special for a special day in small town America, would not be returning for a second season.

Although the media loved this light hearted and fun show, I guess it wasn't enough to save it. Which is too bad. This show in my opinion was truly a breath of fresh air compared to all of the psycho reality TV out there. They were able to give small town women a makeover and a special day without talking 'down' to them or being condescending in any way.

It also had decent numbers, consistently out performing Real Housewives of DC, and other basic cable competitors. However, in my opinion what torpedoed this show was a bloated 90 minute Project Runway, and having to compete with the last half hour of Jersey Shore. Not exactly a recipe for success. Not only that, but it really needed to be longer than a half hour, and without the benefit of Lifetime repeating their reality lineup, it got lost in the shuffle.

So it's time to pack the Lincoln Lady Van away, and wish our beloved Austin Scarlett and Santino Rice well. They're gonna be fine. Talented people always land on their feet one way or another. Thanks for a fun season guys...we'll always have Santino yakking over the side of a boat, and Austin's ability to play-act just about anything. Au revoir guys...til we see you again.
