On Sexual Abuse

Daddies do not touch their little girls this way.

A daddy doesn't make his daughter cry.

He does not pretend that doing wrong things is okay; and he would never tell his little girl to lie.

Daddies don't sneak in and pull the covers off at night.

A daddy wouldn't frighten his child so.

He would never say that what he's done to her is right.

He wouldn't offer money to let him take off her clothes.

Daddies are supposed to make their little girls feel safe.

A daddy would protect you from such men.

He would never shame his daughter so, or make her feel disgraced; leave her with a soul too frayed to mend.

Daddy don't you know you were my hero?

I trusted you completely, heart and soul.

You shattered what was sacred, lying down beside me naked, and I will spend my life just trying to become whole.
