Recently announcing that MTV will be using 5 of their songs for the television shows, "The Real World," and "Road Rules," one would imagine this incredible new band would be swamped in contracts. So who, exactly, is On Tracy Lane and why are they still unsigned?
On Tracy Lane, or OTL as fans call them, was birthed into existence by singer/songwriter Darryn Yates. Recapturing the spirit and enthusiasm of retro rock and giving it a more modern twist, the sound is definitely one that encourages you to get up and dance or, at the very least, sing along with the catchy lyrics.
This is definitely a sound that works for the band - to date, On Tracy Lane boasts a mailing list that numbers over 75,000 fans from the United States and abroad. Not only have they sold more than 20,000 copies of the OTL EP, but the CD is consistently in the top 10 albums sold at the Vintage Vinyl Record Store in their hometown. Additionally, their single, "Better Again" has begun to get airtime on radio stations across the country.
It comes as no surprise that On Tracy Lane has raised eyebrows and captured the attention of MTV - last year, they shot a video in Los Angeles for their song, "Back to Maybe," featuring Lacey Chabert of "Mean Girls," fame. In fact, the band has been quick to catch the eyes and ears of the music industry. Unlike many new bands, however, OTL is not jumping at the first offers that come their way. Despite all the interest, On Tracy Lane continues to search for a management company and a recording label that are right for them.
On Tracy Lane is comprised of Darryn Yates (lead vocals, acoustic/rhythm guitar), Shannon Nicole (backing vocals, keyboard/piano), BB Wiggs (lead and rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Madigan Johns (bass), and Paul Russo (drums, percussion). They are currently working on new music and gearing up to hit the stage scene once more, on August 19th, in their home of St Louis, MO.
