Background:

Jacob Grimm (1785-1863) and Wilhelm Grimm (1786-1859) were born in the city of Hanau near Frankfort. The boys spent their early childhood years in Steinau, but later lived in Kassel. Both men held positions at the library in Kassel for about 15 years. The men lived and worked together, creating elaborate pieces of work, which they would later become famous for. Children and Household Fairy Tales is their most famous work and has been translated in almost every language.
