For decades now, I've been a big fan of On-Cor frozen dinners and I eat them on a regular basis. Last week, I purchased and ate an On-Cor Classics Veal Parmigiana family size dinner and I'm very glad that I did so.
Presented here, as a service to the consumer at large, is an article which reviews and examines On-Cor Classics Veal Parmigiana family size dinner.
Size
The net weight of the On-Cor Classics Veal Parmigiana family size dinner is 28 ounces (one pound 12 ounces). According to the product's nutrition facts label, the package contains six 1 patty with 1/3 cup sauce (132 grams) servings.
When I ate this frozen dinner on two consecutive nights last week, I consumed three patties with sauce along with some pasta and vegetable each time I ate it.
Price
The regular retail price charged for one 28 ounce package of On-Cor Classics Veal Parmigiana family size dinner at Hartford, Connecticut area food retailers varies.
At major supermarkets in the Hartford area, the price per package of this dinner generally ranges between $3.19 and $4.29. Even at the high end price, I think it is a bargain for this dinner.
When I purchased the On-Cor Classics Veal Parmigiana family size dinner at a corner bodega last week, the price that I paid was $3.99. Although I ate three patties with sauce two nights in a row, the price still worked out to $2 per meal, which I think is very reasonable.
Texture / Consistency
These veal parmigiana patties feature a pleasing texture. They are nicely breaded and are soft, yet slightly firm. They are definitely not mushy.
The patties are topped with a small amount of mozzarella cheese and they swim in a fairly thick sauce. The overall mouth feel offered by On-Cor Classics Veal Parmigiana family size dinner is quite satisfying.
Nutritional Facts
On-Cor Classics Veal Parmigiana family size dinner contains 210 calories, with 100 calories from fat, per one patty with 1/3 cup sauce serving. This dinner also contains 3.5 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams trans fat, 11 grams total fat, 20 mg of cholesterol, 780 mg of sodium, 18 grams total carbohydrates, 3 grams of dietary fiber, 5 grams of sugars and 9 grams of protein, per one patty with 1/3 cup sauce serving.
Taste / Flavor
As a restaurant cook, I have prepared and cooked veal parmigiana many times. While the On-Cor Classics Veal Parmigiana family size dinner is not the same as a restaurant-prepared veal parmigiana dinner, it is made with real veal and it tastes quite good.
The breaded veal patties are real veal, not some mystery meat by-product and they offer a subtle, yet pleasing flavor. The mozzarella cheese accentuates the veal well and the tomato sauce is slightly sweet and nicely seasoned.
On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this product a rating of nine.
Packaging
On-Cor Classics Veal Parmigiana family size dinner is packaged in a largely yellow cardboard box. The front and rear labels show close-up illustrations of the enclosed veal patties and one of the side panels lists all relevant ingredient and nutritional information.
Inside the box, the veal parmigiana patties sit in a rectangular cardboard tray that is sealed with plastic film. The meal cooks inside of the tray.
Preparation
This excellent frozen dinner can be heated for 50-55 minutes in a conventional oven or in a microwave oven for about 18-20 minutes.
Overall Rating
All things considered, On-Cor Classics Veal Parmigiana family size dinner is a top notch product that is very tasty, reasonably priced, amply sized and convenient.
This On-Cor Classics frozen dinner is highly recommended.
