One Book, One Twitter Inspires International Book Club
"What If Everyone on Twitter Read One Book?"- Jeff Howe
Among the winning nominations are American Gods by Neil Gaiman, 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger, Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison and 1984 by George Orwell. Some of these books are classics while others are destined to become classics.
I found out about Howe's idea through a Facebook posting by Neil Gaiman who is the 2010 Honorary Chair of National Library Week. He is encouraging his fans to participate in One Book, One Twitter this summer by voting for the book they want to read. I voted for American Gods since it is one of my personal favorites but if you don't want to read Neil Gaiman's novel you are welcome to vote for one of the other 10 books on the list. Perhaps Fahrenheit 451 is more to your reading taste or perhaps Slaughterhouse Five will be more to your liking.
Cast your vote by heading to Wired Magazine's online version, where all the books are listed for One Book, One Twitter. You can follow the voting and results of the book list by following @crowdsourcing on Twitter. Once you cast your vote for the book you want to read this summer send out a message to all your twitter followers with the hashtag #1b1t so they too can vote and be a part of an international book club.
What book will you be voting for?

Cien años de soledad / Hundred Years of Solitude - just about makes worthwhile the five hundred years of misery since the European invasion of the Americas.
