One Christmas Present

When it comes to Christmas I never thought I'd be wanting to celebrate it again. My life hasn't been the best since I lost my kids and husband. I've been so depressed. Haven't really been wanting to get out of bed to go to work. But, to live and pay my bills I haven't got much of a choice.
The twenty minute drive to work sometimes can seem like forever. I've been manager of a small clothing store for the last five years. I sell clothes mostly for kids and teenagers. I'll watch parents walk in the store with thier kids and look around. They will have them try on this dress and that pair of pants. Tell they find exactly what they are looking for.
I open the store at 10am and close at 9pm. I had been sitting behind the counter for the last hour with no one coming in yet. Its like three days tell Christmas and I watch people go from one side of the street into this store and that store.
I got up to walk into the back of the store to grab a few new pieces of clothing and the bell of the front of the store chimes. I walk back to the front of the store and it was the mailman. He leaves some mail and this big huge box. He says, ' Merry Christmas,' to me and leaves.
I don't remember anyone going to send me a box of any kind. The only thing I can think about is that its a shipment of new clothes. I pick up the box and set it on the chair I was using before. I take an opener and slice open the box. Lift each flap and inside is another box wrapped in Christmas paper. I have no idea who could have sent me this. I've been alone for the last year and haven't even felt like celebrating Christmas.
I pull out the box and look at the beautiful wrapping paper. Someone took the time and care to wrap this box. I gently tear the paper off the box and notice that its another colorful box. All silvery red. I open the box and inside laying on top is a card. I open the card and open it up. Inside theres a note from my husband. I sat down on the stool next to the chair in shock. I didn't know that my husband had done this. With tears in my eyes I remove to tissue from around whatever it was covering and peer inside. Inside is the most beautiful snow globe I've ever seen.
Tears still filling my eyes, I lift it out of the box. It had an inscription on it. It read, to my most lovely wife and mother. May her life be full of all the love she has ever deserve.
I just let the tears fall. Inside of me I was feeling sad and happy. This was the best kind of Christmas present could have ever gotten. I decided to close the shop and head for home. No one has even come in yet. It was time for me to decorate my house and put up a Christmas tree.
As much as I lost, my husband has just given me my life back.
