One Evening in a Bar

Spiritual Lessons Can Be Taught Anywhere and at Anytime

Bud Young

I was leaning back
Enjoying my libation
When a beautiful woman
Stole my concentration

Her smile
Was very capricious
Maybe even
A little devious

Her dress
Was very revealing
My breath
She seemed to be stealing

She walked over and queried
What's your name
I stuttered and stammered
My name is James

She leaned against me
Her smile, very devious
I returned the lean
My thoughts, very lubricious

She said, Well James
And kissed my cheek
I saw down her blouse
She said, Did you enjoy your peek

I said yes, she smiled
And then just walked away
Much later, I realized
My wallet had gone astray

What Mom and Dad said
God just showed me
When your being carnal
Nothing is ever free

Fortunately, the events in this poem are completely fictitious. This poem is mostly about the lesson. If anyone gets too caught up in the story and misses the point, they may need to do some self-evaluation.
