It always comes as a surprise.
The news of death,
even that of a stranger.
The violence of it,
the unlucky and unlikely timing.
That could be my brother, my lover, my friend.
It could all be over now,
over in one explosive second.
The thought is haunting,
always one step ahead
and one step behind.
Just one explosive second,
and the news of death
changes so much life.
