Cocoa beach had undergone erosion and an overall beating when hurricanes moved through the area between 2002 and 2005 since that time the city has made it a priority to restore the beaches and the sand dunes. This project has cost the city millions of dollars but has been well worth the time and effort, the shores of Cocoa are beginning to return to their former glory and since so much attention has been paid to the well being of our beaches they have really prospered.
People have also become more aware of the crisis that Cocoa beach once faced. For years pollution levels were on the rise and it seemed no one person was making an effort to stop it. Now with increased fines for littering and rules regarding driving on the beach and the limitation of boating close to shore the beaches have made a quick recovery. If you head out to Cocoa Beach today you will see hardly any sign of human interaction except for the beach goers themselves.
Cocoa beach is also home to the world renowned surfing corporation, Ron Jon's. This place is your number one stop for any and everything surf related. They have swimming apparel, beach gear, and of course anything a surfer could ever want. Ron Jon's was set up for near this beach a reason, because Cocoa beach has some great surfing action for beginners. True Cocoa beach does not have the largest waves or the greatest sets, but for anyone who's into surfing and looking for a place to get a good introduction to the sport, Cocoa beach is the place to be.
Families enjoy Cocoa beach because of its clean atmosphere, and I don't just mean the water and sand. Year round Daytona is host to a more adult oriented college crowd, and we all know how things can get with hormone crazed 20 year olds running around, especially when alcohol is involved. I'm not saying that all college students are like this or that Daytona Beach is a bad place, but come on now; we have all seen MTV before right? So Cocoa beach is a great alternative to Daytona.
Cocoa beach pier is a great hotspot if you're looking for something to do while at the beach. They have an assortment of shops, restaurants and of course places where you can rent almost anything you want to have a great time at the beach. Shops at the pier have very reasonable prices when it comes to renting such things as surfboards and other equipment, so you can have a great time without dropping too much cash. The pier is also a great retreat when the sun gets to be too much for you, or if you're just looking for a place to eat and cool off. You can find any kind of food imaginable here and of course their fresh seafood eateries are always a number one choice for patrons.
Perhaps you have had concern in the past about the safety of our beaches? Well your point is well taken. Reports of shark attacks, jelly fish stings and more are very common during the summer, but hardly any of those reports come from Cocoa beach. The way the tide flows and the waters temperature at Cocoa beach is a deterrent for many dangerous creatures. There have been sightings of sharks but not usually close to shore, plus that's why there are plenty of people that patrol the beach looking for potential threats. With life guards on hand and helicopters patrolling the sky you can just relax and enjoy the sun.
Perhaps you don't enjoy swimming, surfing or laying out in the sun, or you just want to have a perfect ending to a romantic evening, Cocoa beach is the place to go. The pier boasts plenty of nightlife activities, but the beach itself at night is a true wonder. Standing on the cool sand staring out into the endless night sky with the gentle sound of waves lapping against the shore, nothing can compare with the beauty that endures at Cocoa beach. If you walk along the beach away from the pier and look to the sky over the ocean you will be awe struck with the vast numbers of stars visible, it is an experience like nothing you have ever encountered in your life.
Cocoa beach is indeed a one of a kind place, with beautiful sandy beaches, great environment and family entertainment. Next time you check out Florida's east coast for a vacation spot, you may consider Cocoa beach as one of your destinations. The hotels are not overly expensive, like in Orlando or Daytona, and you're just a half hour away from many of the attractions such as Disney and Universal. Cocoa beach is an amazing place that you have to see to believe, so grab your towel, swimming suit, and some suntan lotion and come on over to the east coast, at Cocoa beach, the Ocean awaits.

Post a CommentI am going to Florida this summer. Cocoa Beach sounds like a great destination, but my heart is set on Universal Studios. I cannot understand why people would continuely litter to the point that a place is uninhabitable. It sounds like a dream location was almost ruined for good.
I have been to daytona, and orlando, but never Cocoa. I have always wondered if it was nice. And now i finally know!!!
