One Less Perspective: A Poem

J. Paul Norton
I have a good friend who lost someone from their past to a sudden death. Although they weren't close, the years having quickly passed with life in full bloom, he was moved to think long and hard about what she meant to the history of his life. Death comes to us all, but that in no way makes it less remarkable. So, for him and for what he's going through I quickly penned these words.

One Less Perspective

There is now no voice

where yours once held;

Pouring into the cracks

cementing a fellowship's memory.

The cool pastel in soprano

husky browns in beloved tenor;

Laughing through the spaces

sharing a fellowship's memory.

Silenced by death's calling

stolen without but a whisper;

One less perspective

upholding the fellowship's memory.

Maybe for you too, they would be healing balm.
