One of Many, but Only One

If You Ever Feel Unimportant

Nikki Freeman
We are one in many planets rotating around the sun. Our solar system is one in billions, our galaxy one out of an unknown. This makes earth and every little part of our lives seem small and insignificant. The openness to understanding our planet's small role in the universe would appear to bring one to finally understand how unimportant we are. But, then why are we built to savor our idiosyncrasies? Why do our intricate minds force us to dwell on matters that really affect little to no one? Why are our bodies so detailed and perfectly constructed to function in an organized, specifically universal way?

Without the earth, the gravitational force upon all the other planets, around the sun, would be skewed and the aligned plane upon which they orbit would not exist. So, though through the vastness of space and the universe we seem small and miniscule, from that same smallness we are connected. Every toenail, every hair, every organ. Why so perfect? Why so functional?

Just as the stars take their place in the sky, as the ocean wave's energy on the sandy shore, we have a place. Remember your individuality that is all that's important. Once you call yourself a statistic, and believe you are nothing more than a random peg without a hole, you have betrayed your destiny. Your beautifully carved and established being thrives in vain. Every time you feel small and non-existent, look up at the sky, the overwhelming celestial sphere surrounding you. You are a star, perfect in design and perfectly in place.
