One Month on - What Has Changed?

It has now been a month since Norwich City was relegated from the championship. At the time, the board announced mass changes would be made. Initially, their action was swift and decisive by handing Bryan Gunn the job as manager. They also mutually parted company with Chief Executive Neil Doncaster and Chairman Roger Munby.

Those decisions were welcomed by the fans, but little action has taken place since. All we know is interviews have taken place to find the new Chief Executive and the search for investment is ongoing. It is believed that Michael Foulger is working to bring local businessmen together to help fund Bryan Gunn's rebuilding plans.

Another issue for debate is that of the season ticket rebate. Foulger has stated that he will match any unclaimed money and collectively the money will go to Bryan Gunn.

On the playing side David Marshall, quickly secured a £500,000 move to Cardiff. Additionally, first-team players such as Lee Croft, Mark Fotheringham and Carl Cort have been released. There are also rumours of the impending departures of Sammy Clingan and Wes Hoolahan. The latter may include a swap deal with Alan Lee.

The big concern is that Norwich is yet to sign a new player. And this from a club that probably needs a dozen new players. We are told; Bryan Gunn had a list of targets even before he got the job. I hope he realises there is only a month or so before the pre-season games start. Therefore, the time for bringing players is now not the first week of July.

I strongly believe by the start of the pre-season games we will need 90% of our squad complete. Furthermore, we will need a Chairman and Chief Executive. If we leave everything to the last minute we can't expect to start the season well. And as we know from previous experience a bad start usually signals a bad season.
