One More Time

It was that one more time he said it
When he told her she was pathetic.
That one last time.
Sealed off,
Forever,
A part of her heart.

When he told her she was wasteful
Of her life, of her gifts, of herself.
Instead of listening
Instead of
Trying.
He broke her spirit.

He didn't notice she was leaving
In her heart, in her soul--inside.
He wouldn't stop
Talking down-
Destroying.
So she closed off.

He barely wonders why she's cold
A distant look in her eye.
He doesn't care
He shattered
Her.
