One Morning

Lee Leon

Gully thought about the morning at least once every day, which is a lot for a sheep. Some days, Gully would even count the morning which easily took him as far as the number of numbers which would fit in his head. Gully often wondered where the morning went, especially when it got dark. Wully said it had another field to visit, which impressed Gully tremendously, partly because another field was a mind boggling concept and partly because the morning never forgot to come back and be counted again. Gully had composed a little sheep thought which described how he felt. Although short, even by Japanese standards, this is epic for a sheep, so for best effect you should read this poem slowly and think of a sheep, in a field recognising the first light of dawn:

One morning.
Again.
Nature is awesome.

I wanted to be a serious writer - unfortunately my muse is a small and not completely sane sheep - but what can you do? It's hard to explain, but that's life and I guess someone has to do it!  View profile
