Rare have been the movies with such spectacular visual effects; opulent architecture and rich colors revealing a certain time in history; Esther's time. She was a Jewish woman destined to marry a King and to save her people from annihilation through her one act of courage in the face of death, and that deed was to appear before her husband the King without being summoned. Esther couldn't even be sure that he would spare her life for an action that was considered disrespectful and most importantly, against the law and punishable by execution.
The lessons of Esther are wide and varied but one I took with me is to recognize that God intercedes in human affairs and not only does He intervene, but He has a hand in orchestrating certain events (otherwise known as fate) and through Him, Esther was brought to the palace, eventually chosen to be Queen, and was able to plead for the lives of her people; God's children.
Love is a fire that consumes, but should build, rather than destroy and that is what Esther accomplished. Her remarkable faith is timeless, encouraging and inspiring and I'm thankful that her story was made into this beautiful, enchanting movie; something that has sparked my interest to read more about her story from where it first appeared; the bibleā¦
The movie was visually stunning; intermittently romantic - revealing the individual side of man and woman, despite their roles.
It's clean, without being preachy, and touched me through its perceptible splendor as well as the story; a love story in more ways than one.
