One Night Man- Jeanie London

Steamy and passionate. The pages sizzle.

One Night Man is one of the earlier Blaze books that I stumbled across at a local library swap. Instead of being swamped with unwanted paperbacks this library allows readers to take as many paperbacks out as they want, to keep, from a particular section of the library. All you have to do is return the same number to them at some point in time. Not the same titles, unless you want to, but the same number. Which, to me, is a wonderful way of recycling books without tossing them away.

Ms London's One Night Man is a hot little read that is a quick way to while away an afternoon, though, because of work, I had to space this book out over a couple of days. As I write for a living myself, I reward myself with being able to read so many chapters per thousand words written. And this book offered a wonderful reward to help break up the day.

The back of the book poses a question: Is one night enough to cure a grand passion?

Josh Eastman is a grand passion waiting to happen. A fantasy come to life. One look at this sexy private investigator has Lennon McDarby lost in scandalous thoughts about long, hot nights, afternoons, mornings, hell anything she can get with him. But he's Mr. Wrong and such a man is not in her future. She writes about grand passion for a living, as Lennon is a romance writer, so she knows the warning signs. This is a man she needs to stay away from, or at best, indulge in a one night stand with before she finds a good, steady man and settles down with a husband.

The problem is this wonderful Mr. Wrong is convinced the Lennon is Ms. Right for him. He's never met a woman more perfect for him than the sexy romance writer and he becomes determined to prove it to her. Going as far as using her own fantasies to persuade her that they need a lifetime together in order to explore the heat between them.

Set against the back drop of pre Katrina New Orleans, right in the middle of Mardi Gras, the scenes all but sizzle off the pages. The main characters dance through the story, avoiding touching each other for a short time before they quickly succumb to the passion that sparks between them.

Ms. London is a spirited, passionate writer whose ability to spin a sexy scene makes her, to me, an author well worth reading again. If you're looking for a short, hot read then this is definitely a book for you. Have a good search through the charity shops or ebay if you want to find a copy of the book, or watch for the new move by Harlequin to put their books into E-book form. You might well find it on their site already!
