One Reason to Go to Navy Pier in the Winter: Snow Days Chicago
Neighborhood: Streeterville
Chicago, IL 60611
United States of America
Snow Days Chicago is a great family friendly event that takes place every January at Navy Pier. It is a great excuse for locals to visit the usually tourist jammed Navy Pier.

The highlight of Snow Days Chicago is a snow-sculpting contest. Fifteen of the world's best snow sculpting teams battle it out by creating their best 10-foot snow sculptures. Novice snow sculpturing teams comprised of local students also participate in the exhibition.

Besides the snow sculpting competition, there are many other activities at Snow Days Chicago. Green Valley Dog Drivers put on a dog sled racing demonstration. Professional snowboarders compete in a snowboard rail jam competition. If you want to escape the cold, you can head into Navy Pier's Family Pavilion to take in the family friendly entertainment.

Snow Days Chicago is held in Gateway Park, which is located just outside the main entrance of Navy Pier, during the last weekend in January. The event is open Friday and Saturday from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm and Sunday from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.
