Before moving on to their next task, Val focused on the Solitary females. A girl has never won the show and personally I believe it has to do with some of the tasks and Val somewhat admitted that. For instance take the first task that took out initial Pod #6, the sweat challenge. The bottom three were all females. It's somewhat common knowledge that guys sweat more so it was a bit off. Following the female montage it was time for some sleep. Val gave the cast an hour and eleven minutes of slumber but it was all worth something.
After waking up they had to guess how long they were asleep. Some were close with an hour and ahalf but some were way off by saying three or even six hours. It was a fun little task to see how aware some of them are. Then again it all comes down to just how deep of a sleep the players dreamt into. How close they were to the correct time decided how many guns each player got for the next task. They would take turns selecting someone to play Russian roulette where they could pick a water gun and squirt it at their head. One of their guns contained fake blood, selecting that would kill them from the challenge. The winner, the last one remaining, would win safety from the next treatment.
Pod #4 was the first to make a kill by taking out Pod #9 and also Pod #2. She then got her due, after almost everyone attacked her, from Pod #6 who killed Pod #4 and then Pod #3. In the end it came down to Pod #7 (who was only selected once) and Pod# 5. They went into one last dual, each were given five new guns. The first person to select the fake blood would be out and with Pod #5 getting the shot Pod #7 won, keeping her safe from beating herself to death. She survived two killer tasks all in one! Congrats.
It was then time for some more fun and somewhat of an experiment. Each solitarian had a fact revealed about them and the others had to choose to either punish or reward them for this information. Some were more "good" facts while others were rather odd and you could tell they were meant for the others to punish them. Pod #5 for instance was punished for liking John Mayer, punishment was a siren blaring in their pod, while Pod #4 was rewarded for punching a carjacker with a slice of pizza. Others were more odd like being rewarded or punished for the amount of tattoos one had. In the end it showed that people were in it just to hurt the others while some were genuinely giving out rewards because they felt a good deed was deserved.
The new information about the others didn't mean much towards the next treatment though as the pod people had to begin beating themselves up. They were given several items: a plastic baseball bat, a spatula, a cookie sheet and clapping hand; and had to use these items to slap themselves silly! All they had to do was make a loud enough slap to jump a noise meter to the red zone a certain amount of times. Missing the amount would give them a penalty round of slapping themselves on the butt with a wooden paddle. Naughty boys and girls they were!
They all lasted well into round 15 without screwing up but finally Pod #4 missed the mark and had to do a penalty round. At this point they were all rather red and in obvious pain. Some were smart though, like Pod #3 who hit the bottom of her foot while others, like Pod #8, just didn't feel the pain at all. Pod #2 claimed to have a high pain tolerance but was in obvious pain towards the end. He also was suffering towards the end of the mixture treatment and I don't see him lasting much longer. One of my favorites ended up quitting first though: Pod #4 whose real name is Courtney Hill. She proved to be a tough competitor throughout the other tasks, winning the first and lasting all the way through the rest. She'll be missed for many reasons but the others don't know that yet as they continue to slap themselves for Val's enjoyment until the next reboot begins.
