One Sunset

GJ Walsh
Feel the warming glow of the brilliantly blinding sun, a dazzling yellow ball of fire millions of miles away, and yet it's welcome warmth burrows right into our bones

My eyes can't bear to stare as it ever so slowly inches down toward a devouring gulf as if resting on a shadow of a cloud with an 18-karat gold horizon

This sun casts a long yellow channel across the salty, sandy water making the calm ripples appear to glitter like a stream of tiny neon dancers

Now it is being swallowed by a 30 mile high thick gray wall of cloud, I am cheated! I will not see it sitting upon the edge of the gulf balancing on the drop off to infinity, meshing like lovers, the hot flames being distinguished

The dark comes, maybe tomorrow
